Grant Proposal Writing

While working with Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation (ABBF), I used my role as CEO to learn about leading a social enterprise and planning all our adventures.

It was a perfect combination – utilizing and enhancing my capabilities in management and adventure planning.

Until the pandemic struck, it was something I thought I would grow old doing. 

Then, I stumbled upon another plan.

In June of 2020, I answered a job posting for a grant writer for VOICE Trust (VT), an NGO based out of Trichy.

What started as a grant writing assignment became an organizational change project – process setting, documentation, hiring, and building capabilities.

Clearly, my skills were needed here, and I went all in for the next year and a half. It was the best use of the pandemic-driven downtime to resolve the struggles VT was facing.

We started with Fund Raising platforms and successfully got several projects off the ground.

By December 2021, we had won a substantial grant from Alstom Foundation for a women’s agriculture project, and the VT was now fairly independent.

I realized that social organizations desperately need professional written, compelling proposals to win funding for projects. They struggle with templates, structure, budgeting, and even project planning.
