The Only Three Things our Ironman 70.3 Win Came Down To
I finished the Ironman 70.3 race relay in November 2022 with a great overall time of 7:12:00 Hrs.
I swam 2 KM in the sea within 51 min, a friend cycled 90 KM in 3:26 hrs, and another ran 21 KM in 2:38 Hrs.
Our success came down to these three things:
// Bring your ‘A’ team to any game.
I chose my team based on their strengths in these athletic disciplines, not because they were my friends.
And I let them handle their bit of the race their way. No micro-managing.
// Trust your training.
3 days before the race, I get a severe cold, cough, and fever. I am already nursing a tender shoulder. Then my monthly cycle decided to butt in early. Ugh!
Trust the practice you have put in to carry you through these hardships.
// Celebrate Team Success
We sailed through. We made it in good time. We managed all the hiccups the race threw at us.
Running through the finish arch at the end, hands and heads held high, felt incredible.
Cherish it.
